Nigerian womenswear designer, Bridget Awosika, shows us a different side to her creativity with her Spring Summer 2016 collection, You, which was originally showcased at the Heineken Lagos Fashion And Design Week 2015.
The fashion brand blew our minds at the #HeinekenLFDW2015 when they sent models down the runway in extremely creative pieces made with organza, silk and cotton.
According to the designer, the SS16 collection was inspired by presents, she says:
“If presents are something given voluntarily, without payment in return, as to honor or appreciate a person, then that person receiving is the bigger and greater present. In essence “You” are the most beautiful gift hence why you are honored with another form of love or appreciation being the present that you receive.
The general understanding is that something “YOU” have done has inspired another person to appreciate “YOU” with a gift as a token of love and appreciation. The collection “YOU” focuses on purity and precision as it strives to present the woman as the gift to whomever she is surrounded by, and whatever she is a part of. This encourages her to be inspirational and to be perceived as a beautiful spirit and a special one.“
The collection features contemporary pieces in white and pastel hues. Blouses with big bows, flowers and leaves in strategic areas, matching skirts with slits, pants, knee length dresses, crop tops and pants with bows "see more pictures after the cut.
